RHOPLEX™ 3208

Rhoplex™ 3208 is a thermoset acrylic polymer that is used as a binder for coatings on plastic films. Rhoplex™ 3208 polymer is a combination of acrylic latex and melamine/formaldehyde curing resin with triethylamine added to insure high pH and good stability. The combination of latex and curing resin is roughly 4/1 on a dry weight basis. The predominant use of Rhoplex™ 3208 polymer is for a very light weight coating primer on polyester film.  Typically, Rhoplex™ 3208 polymer is formulated with (1) a surfactant to aid wetting, (2) an acid catalyst to accelerate curing an (3) and antistatic agent.

Features & Benefits

This primer promotes good adhesion for a red iron oxide coating applied later to prepare magnetic media for such applications as audio and video tapes and computer diskettes.
